UEM (Drug Studies Unit)
Research Group
The UEM research group is a multidisciplinary group of 8 members with a broad joint research background since 2012. The main lines of research include independent clinical trials in the field of Primary Health Care and observational studies. in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance with the SIDIAP database, carrying out studies funded in both public and private calls, at the national and international level in collaboration with other research groups. UEM has been part of the SCReN (Spanish Clinical Research Network) platform since 2013, a support structure for independent research, especially multicenter clinical trials; and had been part of the old CAIBER (Spanish Platform for Clinical Trials). At UEM we coordinate the Technical Office of Pharmacoepidemiology (OTF), created in 2017 by an agreement between IDIAPJGol, ICS and CatSalut, to support the CatSalut Pharmacotherapeutic Harmonization Program through pharmacoepidemiological studies. UEM is part of a research group in the field of drug use in pregnancy and lactation admitted by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in 2017, led by the Department of Epidemiology of the University d'Aarhus, Denmark (Procurement procedure no. EMA / 2017/09 / PE - Efficacy and safety studies on medicines. Lot 4: Pharmacoepidemiology research - association studies, including pregnancy and breastfeeding research). It is also part of the SIGMA Consortium platform since 2019, a consortium responsible for providing scientific evidence in pharmacoepidemiology through a European network of health databases.
