GROICAP
Research Group on Osteoporosis and Falls in Primary Care
The GROICAP group is a multidisciplinary group, made up of medical professionals (Family Medicine, Rehabilitation), nursing and physiotherapy. Focused on the ELDERLY and clinical-epidemiological research on musculoskeletal, aging and frailty in PC, especially in the prevention of falls and fractures due to frailty.
The group has carried out calibration and validation projects of the FRAX tool in Spain (FRIDEX, FROCAT, EPIFROS cohorts). It maintains stable collaborations with national groups such as the consolidated group SAFE (Health, Physical Activity and Sport) and international groups such as the pioneering group of the FRAX (WHO) of the "University of Sheffield (UK)".
GROICAP has led the ISCIII-funded PRECIOSA project in the dissemination and publication of results on the prevention of falls and fractures in >75 years of age living in the community. The group has asked for private funding (already committed) for partial research aid and to transfer the knowledge generated to the elderly of the general population.
