INFADIMED

Childhood and the Mediterranean Diet

The group is made up of Jordi Fernández Blanco, nurse and PhD in Human Nutrition and Food Quality. Different professionals from Primary Care and the hospital field participate in the project.

The aim of the group is to improve children's healthy habits through the promotion of the Mediterranean diet beyond food, but also physical activity, rest, oral health and social relationships.

The adventures of some characters will be the common thread in the design of educational interventions in healthy habits in various areas with special emphasis on school, and formats (cartoons, gamification, etc.), which help to modify behavior towards healthy lifestyles in children and that will accompany them from 3 to 12 years old and evaluate their impact,  as well as to investigate the impact of the media on behaviour and lifestyle modification.

We also study the impact of excess weight on children and the comorbidities that may occur, such as steatotic liver disease associated with metabolic dysfunction (MASLD), and the impact of the external world on eating disorders.
