Diabetis-Reus-Tarragona-GDRT (Reus-Tarragona Diabetes Research Group)
The multidisciplinary Diabetes Research Group of Reus-Tarragona is made up of professionals dedicated to the study of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.
With more than 25 years of continuous experience, and a good bibliometric impact, the group promotes and participates in studies on epidemiology, early screening and prevention of diabetes, with particular emphasis on the primary prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, always from the point of view of primary care.
The central objective of the group is to consolidate and expand a multidisciplinary research group in the field of Primary Care to generate quality scientific knowledge in the area of diabetes, its prevention, diagnosis, management, identification, therapeutic intervention and prognosis, as well as that of its late manifestations.
The scientific knowledge generated responds to the aim of increasing and improving the capacity of primary care to identify prediabetes as a health problem; and it must be useful in order to improve screening and early detection of its complications, adopting health plans and policies aimed at their prevention and treatment in a coordinated way between the different health professionals.
The group, made up of professionals and consolidated researchers, forms a line of research in diabetes that was initially promoted by SAP Reus-Altebrat more than 25 years ago.
The consolidated group that is currently being renewed, is made up of 5 doctors in Medicine, a specialist in Family and Community Medicine (opting for the degree of doctor) and two university graduates en grau d'Infermeria.
