GRESP

Research group on Health in Prisons

GRESP is a multidisciplinary team made up of healthcare professionals from the prison environment (primary care and drug addiction teams), as well as non-healthcare professionals from primary care and research and health policy.

Their joint journey began in 2019 with the aim of studying and analyzing phenomena related to prison health and the characteristics of people deprived of their liberty.

The group is made up of researchers with complementary profiles in nursing, family and preventive medicine and public health, mental health, management, health policy and research.

The main objectives of the group are:

- Describe the state and perception of health and its inequalities in the prison population (such as the epidemiology of the Hepatitis C Virus, mental health or mortality).

- Evaluate interventions to improve the quality of healthcare, with special attention to coordination between prison health services and community services.

- Incorporate the dimension of professional practice and ethics in the analysis and development of interventions and projects related to prison health.

- Promote the creation of a research network in prison health at a national and international level, with an active role for the GRESP group.
